In order to achieve optimal and efficient system support in SAP, it is essential to look at both the company’s and the system’s processes.
This is nothing new – SAP has always stressed that the system is process-oriented.
Our point is that it is not sufficient simply to look at the processes – it is crucial to look at integrated processes.
Much of the secret surrounding SAP’s functionality is hidden in the automatic, integrated updating of the individual steps within the process. For example, the process concerning a delivery of goods from the warehouse is not just a logistical process that reduces stocks, but a process that simultaneously – and unseen by the user – involves an update of the external accounts (FI), controlling (CO), consumption statistics (MM) and, possibly, Maintenance, Project Management, etc.
In addition to looking at the active step-by-step process that the user actually carries out, it is therefore important to look at the “invisible” steps in the process, which must be supported through setting up points of integration.
Example:
The maintenance process as the PM consultant sees it
The maintenance process as the solution architect sees it
