Business consultancy, challenging the company

Companies getting ready to implement SAP often start the process by defining their requirements. In this work, they often base their approach on what they currently do and use (existing systems and processes), as well as what they imagine they may also need.

But they rarely draw inspiration from the way SAP – on the foundations of experience from tens of thousands of companies – has built up standardized processes in the ERP system.

On the basis of our experience, we prefer to take SAP Best Practices as our starting point. This means that instead of starting with a blank piece of paper and then sketching out the process from scratch, we prefer to present the standard processes in SAP to the company’s employees and then ask the question: why not?

Of course, all companies have mission-critical processes that are and must remain specific to the company. Nevertheless, at least 90 per cent of these processes can often be matched with standard processes in SAP – and if the company chooses this approach, it can often achieve major benefits and financial savings in the operation of the system, on future upgrades and in new development projects.

Because our consultants have in-depth insight into a range of business sectors and broad knowledge of SAP, companies have much to gain by involving them as early as the preparatory phase. This is the right time to challenge the company and consider changes in the processes.
